My Approach

My Approach

I believe we all have within us the wisdom and strength to move toward our fullest potential.

I primarily use a mindfulness-based approach as well as evidence-based methods and practical techniques to help clients uncover and connect to this inner strength and wisdom. How that might look in a session is starting with a conversation about “what is happening.” And using your present moment experience to explore how your mind and body are reacting to it, allowing the thoughts and feelings to unfold. I believe dysfunction is caused by an imbalance of our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual selves. In addition, our problems may stem from being raised in unhealthy family systems and can manifest later in adulthood. We can get stuck in our thinking, feeling, and behavior patterns that limit possibilities and create suffering. I view our anxiety or pain as a signal or beacon pointing us in the direction of where shifts need to occur to move us forward. In therapy, I will support you in uncovering and letting go of the beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors that get in your way towards living a happier life.

I offer a safe, non-judgmental environment to explore what is important to you and challenge you in a compassionate manner, to help you reach your goals.

I help people with issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, loss, relationship issues, chronic pain, career and life transitions, grief, spiritual emptiness and other related mental health issues.

My background includes a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Washington, and a Master of Arts in Applied Behavioral Science from the Leadership Institute of Seattle (LIOS), formerly affiliated with Bastyr University.

I have been practicing various forms of Buddhist meditation and yoga for over 30 years. My work as a therapist is deeply informed by my own spiritual practice and personal history. I am a mother, fine artist, small business owner. I have experience teaching in university settings, and four years of experience as a therapist/case manager at Navos Mental Health Solutions, where I treated the chronically mentally ill. I have gone through the fire of my own life transitions and came through this difficult period with a renewed faith and ability to help others on their healing journeys. I love my life and my work and feel privileged and honored to be part of so many others’ healing.

I offer free 20 minute phone or video consultation for potential new clients where we will discuss your goals, my therapeutic approach and determine if we are a good fit to work together. Call (206)-937-5440 or send me an email at Patti@PattiNequette.com to schedule.
